I’m having some weird writing obsession. This is the second time in my life that I am having a creative breakdown.

The first time was in my early 20s when I told everybody I was a writer editing my novel. I did write a novel. Two in fact. They are rubbish and are now banished to the loft. What I actually did during this period in time was mess around in chat rooms.

This is what this used to say:

“This time I’m on maternity leave after having my second baby. I tweet. I blog. I’ve started writing fiction again. I hope to win NaNoWriMo this year but with two small children, night school and a house to try to keep together it’s going to be hard!”

Now I have three kids (a knock on effect of writing a 50 Shades response) and I’m pushing myself harder than ever towards the dream. Maybe.

  1. Hi there, I just found your blog via the lovely Maddy at Writing Bubble and I can relate so much to what you say here. I “used” to call myself a writer in my 20s when I was more like a writing dabbler (I did not write two novels, so rubbish or not, that is a feat to be proud of!) and then I got married in my early 30s and had kids. Loooong silence in my writing life. Now they are a bit older, and I am getting back in, but really digging in my heels, determined to make it happen. I feel an urgency I was missing before. Maybe it’s age? Or wisdom? Or wisdom from age? Who knows, but I love finding other women working the same dream.

    1. Hi Dana. She is indeed lovely. It’s great you’ve caught the writing bug again. I know about the urgency. Good luck and hope to hear more about your writing xx
